Rustin Berlow, MD
Board-certified psychiatrist with over 30 years of clinical experience. Dr. Berlow founded the American Brain Stimulation Clinic with a single conviction: psychiatry can do better.
Rather than relying on symptoms alone to guide treatment, Dr. Berlow integrates brain measurement (EEG, HRV), clinical evaluation, and modern neuroscience to build a complete picture of each patient's brain function — and then treats accordingly.

Our Approach
Standard psychiatry diagnoses by symptoms and treats by trial and error. We believe there is a better way.
Measure First
Before treatment begins, we measure brain function using EEG, heart rate variability, cognitive testing, and comprehensive clinical evaluation. This gives us information that symptoms alone cannot provide.
Treat the Mechanism
Different patients with the same diagnosis may have very different underlying brain patterns. By identifying the mechanism, we can select treatments that target the actual problem — not just the label.
Adapt Continuously
Treatment is not a fixed prescription. We monitor response, reassess, and adjust. The brain changes, and treatment should change with it.
We treat the brain as a dynamic system — not a static diagnosis.

American Brain Stimulation Clinic may be the first comprehensive outpatient brain stimulation clinic and may provide the most technologically advanced psychiatric and neurological treatment available. in addition to rTMS (magnetic brain stimulation) we offer five kinds of electric brain stimulation (tACS/CES, tDCS, Trigeminal, tVNS and urTENS), deep TMS, individualized frequency stimulation, theta burst stimulation and HRV (heart rate variability) measurement. We were the first center offering the frameless stereotaxic Neuro-navigation technology in southern California and the first in the Nation to provide TMS with the COBOT (TMS-cooperative Robot). Combined TMS-Ketamine treatment is available Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday of each week.
